Care
The last decade has brought significant changes to the relationship between physicians and insurance companies. Some patients are still covered by traditional plans allowing them to choose any physician. Many more patients, however, are now members of managed care plans. These plans have been established to help control healthcare costs by requiring patients to obtain a referral from their primary care physician when seeking care from a specialist. Managed care plans also require that patients select physicians who have agreed to meet the plans specifications. GCAPs relationships with the specialty care partners were established in part to respond to the needs of the managed care companies. Managed care has grown in influence mainly because these plans have been designed to control costs and offer attractive pricing to employers. Managed care companies prefer to work with larger groups of physicians because it makes administration of the plan easier and more efficient. These companies are also interested in working with groups that offer a high level of patient satisfaction. Several internal systems have been maintained to monitor quality to ensure patient care is constantly improving. GCAP has positioned itself so that that the physicians are in a strong position to work with managed care organizations. In addition, by drawing on pooled resources and knowledge, GCAP is able to operate more efficiently and has the ability to put into place additional services to enhance patient care.
